The newly sworn-in President of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, has officially requested India to withdraw its military presence from the country.
The request was formalized during a meeting between President Muizzu and Indian Union Minister Kiren Rijiju at the President's Office. Mr. Rijiju, the minister of earth sciences,was in Maldives to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
This move comes just a day after President Muizzu assumed office, marking a significant development in the diplomatic relations between Maldives and India.
