Renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal critical after heart attack, on ventilators at Medanta Hospital

Renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal, 62, is in critical condition at NCR's Medanta Hospital due to a pre-existing cardiac condition. Sources reveal he is on a ventilator after suffering from a massive heart attack, similar to an incident 13 years ago in 2010.

Bal, a stalwart in the fashion industry, has battled health issues related to alcohol abuse and has undergone rehabilitation. Last November, he was admitted to Medanta Hospital in a critical condition and received a visit from friend Arjun Rampal, as per reports.

Over his illustrious career spanning nearly three decades, Rohit Bal has earned prestigious awards, including 'Designer of the Year' at the International Fashion Awards (2001, 2004) and the Indian Fashion Awards (2006). Time Magazine hailed him as 'India's Master of fabric and fantasy.'

Bal, self-identifying as a 'traditionalist,' does not design clothes based on trends. He showcased his collections globally, from London and Paris to New York, Singapore, and Moscow. In 2005, he ventured into the culinary business with the opening of his restaurant, 'Veda.'

Born on May 8, 1961, in Srinagar, Rohit Bal initiated his career in 1986, co-founding Orchid Oversea Pvt. Ltd with his brother. He launched his independent collection in 1990 after studying fashion at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in Delhi.
