Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shahzad has bid farewell to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and raised serious concerns over what he perceives as a deliberate attempt by franchises to exclude him from the upcoming 9th season. Shahzad, a seasoned right-handed batter, expressed his disappointment through a statement released on X, asserting that he believes there is a concerted effort to keep him away from the tournament.
Having played for Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators in the PSL from 2016 to 2020, Shahzad highlighted his statistical contributions, amassing 1077 runs in 45 matches with an average of 26.26 and 9 half-centuries. Despite showcasing his form by accumulating 344 runs in the National T20 Cup at a striking rate of 133.33, the 32-year-old was notably absent from the PSL draft.
In an emotional note shared on X, Shahzad stated, "A heartfelt goodbye to Pakistan Super League! I'm writing this note which I thought I wouldn't be writing this year. Another PSL draft goes by and the same old story - didn't get picked. God knows why! But they plan, and Allah plans. Indeed ALLAH is the best of Planners." Expressing his commitment to the game, Shahzad promised to unveil the real reasons behind his exclusion soon.
