The Calcutta High Court has issued an order mandating the deployment of a CRPF Commandant outside the room of former Food Minister, Jyotipriya Mallick, at SSKM Hospital. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh's directive stipulates that the CRPF will provide protection to the ex-minister and monitor the individuals entering and exiting the premises. The court emphasized the use of registered accounts for access tracking. Furthermore, the High Court directed the hospital authorities to dismantle the CCTV cameras installed in Mallick's room.
Jyotipriya Mallick, a former Food Minister, is currently admitted to SSKM Hospital, where the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had installed CCTV cameras for surveillance purposes. In response to the lower court's instructions, the ED had provided access to the CCTV footage. However, Mallick filed a case in the High Court, alleging an invasion of his personal privacy. His legal counsel argued against the intrusive monitoring via CCTV cameras for investigative purposes, asserting that it compromises the client's privacy rights and that such surveillance shouldn't be permissible.
