England's Phil Salt, the 27-year-old batter, expressed his disappointment after going unsold at the IPL 2024 Auction held in Dubai on December 19. Despite a successful debut season with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, where he averaged 27.25 with a strike rate of 163.31, Salt failed to attract any bids at his base price of INR 1.5 crore.
The confusion and surprise surrounding his unsold status were palpable, given his strong performance in the previous edition of the tournament. Salt was among the 260 players that didn't find buyers at the IPL 2024 auction. The 27-year-old was listed at a base price of INR 1.5 crore but it was too much for IPL franchises to bid for him. Delhi Capitals, with whom Phil Salt played his first IPL season last year, didn't raise the paddle for him at auction.
Phil Salt was expected to be one of the in-demand players after their successful debut IPL season this year where his batting averaged 27.25 with a strike rate of 163.31. But still, franchises were not keenly interested in going for him.
