Confusion surrounds the recent discovery of a substantial quantity of marijuana at the residence of BJP Panchayat member Rupa Rai in Sardar Para, Kendhua Village Panchayat.
Acting on information from a confidential source, detectives from the Howrah City Police conducted a raid on Saturday morning, revealing more than 40 kg of marijuana at the premises.
Police sources suggest that Rupa Rai's husband, Nimai Rai, had been involved in clandestine drug trade for an extended period. Following the raid, the police are in the process of arresting Nimai Rai and conducting an intensive interrogation.
