Man stages shop robbery to extract insurance money in Sonarpur

In a plot reminiscent of a Hindi crime thriller, the Sonarpur police have cracked the case of a reported jewelry shop robbery in Sonarpur. The incident unfolded on Tuesday night, triggering widespread panic in the area. Police deduced this while questioning the shop owner.

Simultaneously, a woman filed a complaint against Rai, alleging that he failed to deliver the jewelry despite receiving payment. It soon became evident to the police that the accused, Raju Rai, was orchestrating the entire charade. According to the police, Rai fabricated the robbery to claim insurance money, citing financial difficulties in his business over the past few years.

Baruipur Police District Additional Superintendent of Police Partha Ghosh revealed that Rai staged the robbery attempt in a bid to secure insurance funds from the bank.
