UP man fakes UPSC success for marriage, subjects wife to abuse upon exposure

A man from Uttar Pradesh, Vijay Singh, is facing legal scrutiny for orchestrating a deceitful plot to marry a female constable by falsely claiming to have cleared the UPSC civil services exam. Singh, a resident of Gonda, created a web of lies, including a fabricated newspaper article, to convince his prospective wife that he had passed the UPSC 2023 mains and was awaiting the interview stage. However, as the deception unraveled, Singh resorted to physical and mental abuse against his wife, leading to her filing an FIR against him.

The constable's complaint resulted in Singh's prompt arrest, and he is currently under investigation. DCP Central zone, Raveena Tyagi, mentioned collaboration with authorities in Gonda to address other cases against Singh and ensure appropriate legal action.
