After BJP's fact-finding mission faced hindrances, a Congress team led by West Bengal Pradesh Congress President MP Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary was also obstructed from reaching Sandeshkhali, where they intended to interact with locals affected by recent tragic events. Congress workers assembled near Biswa Bangla Gate in Newtown before embarking towards Sandeshkhali under Chaudhary's leadership.
However, their progress was halted when police intervened in Rampur, citing Section 144 restrictions in force in several Sandeshkhali areas, preventing political representatives' visits. Despite attempts to engage with the police and proceed peacefully, Adhir Chaudhary and his supporters were met with barricades and unresponsiveness from law enforcement.
Amidst the standoff, Adhir Chaudhary denounced the situation, alleging widespread disorder under Mamata Banerjee's governance in Bengal. Expressing frustration over the obstruction, Chaudhary emphasized his peaceful intentions, stating, "I am not going with ammunition; I will do what a political party should do." The incident highlights escalating tensions in Sandeshkhali, with political visits restricted amidst ongoing unrest, drawing attention to the broader political climate in West Bengal.
