Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has tabled a Motion of Confidence in the assembly, scheduled for discussion on February 17. The move comes in the midst of an ongoing investigation by the ED into the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case. Kejriwal, also the national convener of the AAP, aims to demonstrate the unity of AAP MLAs through this confidence motion, countering what he perceives as attempts by rival parties, particularly the BJP, to destabilize the Delhi government under the pretext of the liquor policy case.
The motion, slated for discussion on February 17, aligns with Kejriwal's assertion that false cases are being employed in other states to break parties and topple governments. Addressing the ongoing ED probe into the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, Kejriwal emphasizes the need to counter attempts to arrest AAP leaders under the guise of the liquor policy case.
The ED alleges misuse of "proceeds of crime" in the AAP's Goa election campaign, with the charge sheet implicating Kejriwal in coordinating the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Despite the ED's accusations, the AAP denies allegations of favoritism in liquor licensing and bribery related to the Delhi government's excise policy.
