Jasmine Khatoon, wife of Sheikh Sirajuddin, former chairman of the North and Western region of the School Service Commission, has been apprehended by the CID amidst allegations of securing a job through fraudulent means. The arrest, made on Wednesday, saw Khatoon presented before the Bankura District Court, which ordered her judicial custody until March 4, following accusations of exploiting her husband's position to secure employment as a Sanskrit teacher in Sri Durga Vidyathan High School, Bhatra, Indapur Block, Bankura.
The controversy stems from Khatoon's appointment in November 2019, based on the School Service Commission Cancellation Panel of 2015, raising suspicions of nepotism and misuse of authority. The Bankura District School Inspector filed a complaint regarding the appointment, prompting CID intervention and subsequent arrest of Khatoon. The case underscores concerns over corruption and malpractice within the education system, as authorities probe allegations of favoritism and irregularities in job appointments.
