Elections for 11 seats of Bihar Legislative Council scheduled on March 21

The political landscape in Bihar has shifted following the recent formation of the NDA government led by Nitish Kumar. The focus now turns to the upcoming elections for 11 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council.

The Election Commission announced on Friday the schedule for the biennial elections to the 11 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council, with their terms set to end in May.

Key dates for the elections include the issuance of notification on March 4, the last day for filing nomination papers on March 11, and the final date for withdrawal of nominations on March 14. Voting across all 11 seats is scheduled for March 21, with counting to commence the same evening and conclude by March 23.

On May 6, the tenure of 11 MLCs including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rabri Devi, Shahnawaz Hussain and Santosh Suman is ending. Of these 11 seats, 3 are with BJP and Congress has only one seat, while the ruling JDU has a major share of seats.
