A fire broke out during school hours at Lee Memorial Elementary School in the Taltala area near Raja Subodh Mallik intersection in central Kolkata on Friday, causing alarm among students. Prompt response from authorities ensued as police arrived at the scene, followed by three fire engines, which successfully subdued the blaze. The fire department confirmed that the incident originated on the upper floor of the school, triggering locals to alert the fire brigade at 12:14 pm upon noticing smoke emanating from the building.
Although the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, initial speculation points towards a potential short circuit or electrical fault. Students were safely evacuated, and there have been no reports of significant damage thus far.
