Quest Mall denounces False WhatsApp messages inciting religious hatred | Read details

In recent days, a series of alarming WhatsApp messages warning against visiting Quest Mall in Kolkata has circulated widely on various social media platforms. The messages, containing false claims of misconduct by Muslim guards and individuals, have caused significant concern among the public and led to apprehension about visiting the mall.

Concerned by the spread of these messages, Quest Mall authorities launched an investigation into the matter. They found that the claims made in the messages were entirely baseless and aimed at inciting religious hatred and discord within the community.

Taaza TV received the following messages being forwarded on Whats App groups:

  1. Hey guys ..just wanted to update ..we should all seriously avoid quest mall for a few days..yesterday even the Muslim guards and a few people misbehaved with my own Mama Mami. They all are involved in the things happening recently.
  2. A lady from Kolkata went to quest a day before with her husband. They both came out of the mall at around 9.30pm. They were mobbed by 6 people from that area. The husband was told to wait for her wife at the same location as they went on to rape the lady (aged 50 years + ) and returned her back after sometime. No police complaint was lodged and very few people know about it as the name is not be dis-closed. So please please take care when you go out especially when you go out alone. Kolkata is not as safe as it used to be.
  3. Same thing happened.. @12 30 .. 2 couples were there 10 guys in the parking lot beat up the boys touched the girls everywhere demanded to take 1 of the girls somehow they managed to stop them in exchange they had to give 25k There is cctv footage also apparently..

In response to these malicious messages, Quest Mall has lodged a formal complaint with the Karaya Police Station, highlighting the circulation of offensive and misleading electronic content. The mall authorities have urged the police to take swift action against those responsible for spreading false information and inciting fear among the public.

The messages circulating on WhatsApp contained fabricated accounts of alleged incidents, including claims of harassment and assault within the mall premises. However, Quest Mall has categorically stated that no such incidents have occurred, and the safety and security of visitors remain their utmost priority.
