In a significant move, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken action against several schools across the country, canceling the recognition of 20 institutions and downgrading three others. The punitive measures were undertaken due to allegations of malpractices and violations of rules in these schools, spanning 10 states including Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Uttarakhand. CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta highlighted that during recent secretive inspections, it was discovered that many schools were engaging in informal activities without adhering to guidelines, prompting this decisive action.CBSE, in a press release, disclosed that several schools were found to have dummy students and lacked records of ineligible students.
