Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is leading the INDIA bloc's campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, despite significant health challenges. The contest for Bihar's 40 crucial seats is spread across seven phases.
Midway through the campaign, following the first two phases, doctors advised Tejashwi to rest for three weeks to treat his back pain. Ignoring medical advice, the 34-year-old leader has continued to campaign relentlessly. On May 3, Tejashwi shared a video on social media showing himself at a rally, lifting his shirt to reveal a waist belt designed to alleviate his back pain. "I am on painkiller injections and medicines for unbearable back pain. I am wearing a belt too," he tweeted in Hindi.
Despite his physical difficulties, Tejashwi has held a record 205 meetings in 50 days, surpassing both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. His determination and commitment have been evident as he continues to address large crowds, sometimes even in a wheelchair.
On Thursday, Tejashwi has resumed his campaign activities with Mukesh Sahni, scheduled to attend six meetings. In a celebratory moment, Sahni reminded Tejashwi of his milestone of 200 meetings and brought a cake to commemorate the achievement. Both leaders celebrated together, cutting the cake in a helicopter. Tejashwi expressed his gratitude for the immense love and support from the public, noting that youth, women, and elders stood for hours in the scorching heat to hear him speak. "This election will always be remembered for the immense support and love of the public," he remarked.
