A tragic accident occurred on Diamond Harbor Road near Thakurpukur, where a 70-year-old cyclist, Tarun Kumar Mishra, was fatally struck by a hydraulic crane. Mishra was crossing the road on his bicycle when the crane, coming from the direction of Thakurpukur, hit him.
Witnesses reported seeing Mishra lying on the road in a bloody condition. The police arrived promptly, rescuing Mishra and taking him to Vidyasagar Hospital, where he was declared brought dead by doctors.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption on one side of Diamond Harbor Road, leading to tension among commuters. The police from Thakurpukur police station managed to control the situation and arrested the hydraulic crane and its driver. Mishra, a resident near the Thakurpukur no. 3 bus stand.
