Metro services have resumed full operation in Kolkata after being disrupted by waterlogging on the tracks between Park Street and Esplanade stations. The heavy rainfall due to cyclone Remal over the past 24 hours, amounting to 146 mm, caused significant water accumulation, leading to truncated services between Dakshineswar and Girish Park, as well as Kavi Subhash and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar stations starting at 7:51 am. Additionally, train movements on the Sealdah South Branch were suspended.
The waterlogging on Park Street has now been cleared, allowing metro services to operate directly from Dakshineshwar to Kavi Subhash. Despite the resumption of services, Kolkata is experiencing a cloudy sky with light stormy winds and showers of rain.
