Love marriage turns tragic: Double suicide in Gorakhpur

In a heart-wrenching incident in Gorakhpur, UP, the daughter and son-in-law of Dr. Ramsharan Srivastava, a renowned psychiatrist, committed suicide within hours of each other on Sunday. Harish Bagesh, 31, was found hanging in a Sarnath hotel room early Sunday morning. Upon receiving the news in Gorakhpur, his wife Sanchita Srivastava, 30, jumped from the roof of her family home, leading to her death. "The reason for the suicide is not known at the moment," said SP City Krishna Kumar Bishnoi, who reached the scene with a forensic team to investigate.

Dr. Ramsharan Srivastava, who resides in the Civil Lines area, learned of Harish's death from a phone call from Varanasi. Harish, who had left Gorakhpur for Patna on July 5, booked a room in a Sarnath homestay the same night. His body was discovered by a relative who informed the hotel operator after failing to get a response. Sanchita, a fashion design graduate from Delhi Pearl Academy, married Harish, an MBA holder from Jammu, in November 2022. The couple's love story began during their intermediate studies in a Rajghat boarding school, blossoming into marriage and tragically ending in a double suicide.
