Guv calls Mamata 'Lady Macbeth of Bengal', says will socially boycott her
It's less than 80 days for the grand festival of Durga Puja to begin. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with the Puja Committees and various authorities of the state. During this, the West Bengal CM announced this year's Durga Puja grant. Mamata declared that this year, each puja committee will get 85,000 as a grant.
The meeting was held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. Along with an increased grant, the CM also declared that the puja committees will get a full waive-off on the license fee. Moreover, they will get a staggering 75% discount on Electricity bills.
During the meeting, CM Mamata cautioned the organizers saying "Our joy shouldn't be someone else pain". Since Kolkata has a history of iconic puja and a crowd of thousands appearing to witness it, CM Mamata said, "112 feet high Puja (idol), laser show can cause stampede-like situations".
