Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
A bus carrying devotees from Rajasthan to take a holy dip in the Ganga met with a severe road accident in the Hasayan police station area of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. Sixteen devotees were injured in the incident, and the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
The double-decker bus was transporting devotees from Gangapur in Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan, to Soronji Kachla Ghat. As it neared the industrial area of Rati Ka Nagla in the Hasayan police station jurisdiction of Hathras, the bus went out of control and overturned on the roadside. The sudden overturning led to panic and screams among the passengers.
Police quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the injured devotees trapped inside the bus. They were promptly taken to the trauma center in Sikandrarao. Given the severity of some injuries, doctors have referred several critically injured individuals to higher medical facilities for advanced treatment.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar inspected the accident site upon receiving information about the incident. He confirmed that 16 people were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.
