Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
A delegation of Trinamool Congress will visit the landslides-hit Wayanad of Kerala. As per reports, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee tasked the party's Rajya Sabha MPs Saket Gokhale and Sushmita Dev to visit the affected areas and assess the situation. They will be on a 2-3 day visit and will reach tomorrow.
More than 260 people have lost their lives so far while hundreds are injured after multiple landslides hit the district. SDRF, NDRF, Indian Army, and other rescue teams are working tirelessly to save as many lives as they can. The Army has rescued around 1,000 people and 220 people are still missing, as rescue operations entered the third day.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted more rain for Wayanad and several other districts over the next couple of days. A red alert for heavy rain has been issued for the Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasargod districts.
