The Indian hockey team has achieved a historic victory against Australia, breaking a 52-year dry spell at the Olympic Games with a thrilling 3-2 win in their Pool B match in Paris. Under the leadership of Harmanpreet Singh, this triumph marks India's third win in the group stage, virtually securing their second spot in the pool.

India showcased their dominance from the outset, pressing strongly and maintaining good possession. The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when striker Abhishek scored a field goal, giving India an early lead. Just a minute later, captain Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty corner, doubling the advantage. Australia managed to respond in the 25th minute with a goal by Craig, reducing the deficit and making it 2-1 at halftime.

The second half saw India maintaining their high intensity. Harmanpreet added to his tally by scoring a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute, pushing the score to 3-1. Despite Australia's efforts, which included a goal by Govers Blake in the 55th minute, India held on to secure a memorable victory.
