Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
A tragic accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Usrahar area resulted in seven fatalities and 25 injuries when a bus collided with a car and fell into a ditch. The bus, bearing a Nagaland number plate, was en route from Rae Bareli to Delhi when the incident occurred around 12:45 am, according to Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar.
Preliminary reports suggest that the car, traveling from Lucknow to Agra, entered the wrong lane, likely due to the driver falling asleep. The car collided with the bus, causing it to veer off the road, flip over, and plunge into a ditch. It has also been reported that the car driver was using a mobile phone while driving and ignored warnings to stop.
The bus was carrying approximately 60 passengers at the time of the accident. Emergency services transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Among the deceased were Chanda Devi, her 25-year-old son Monu, and Pradyumn, 24, who were passengers in the car. Another victim, Om Prakash Tiwari, 50, from Lakhimpur, was identified as a bus passenger. The identities of the remaining three victims are yet to be confirmed by the police. The family in the car was returning from Mehndipur Balaji in Rajasthan and heading to Talgram in Kannauj.
