The police have apprehended an accused involved in gang rape and molestation in the Baldirai police station area. The accused was injured during the encounter and has been hospitalized for treatment. Illegal weapons were recovered from him.
Circle Officer Baldirai, Saurabh Samanth, reported on Thursday that a few days ago, a woman working in a group in the Baldirai police station area was molested by two individuals. A case was registered under the BNS and SC-ST Act.
During the police investigation, it was discovered that the accused had a prior case registered against him under serious charges, including gang rape. He had previously been jailed, and the trial for that case is ongoing.
Last night, acting on information from a special informer, the police learned that the accused, Irfan, was planning to commit another serious crime using illegal weapons. The SHO of Baldirai and his team set up a perimeter to apprehend him.
Upon seeing the police, Irfan fired several rounds from his illegal weapon. The police retaliated, injuring Irfan in the right leg. He was immediately taken to CHC Baldirai for first aid, and further legal actions are being pursued.
