South Bengal gets new rail connectivity: Purulia-Bankura-Howrah MEMU service inaugurated today
An unfortunate accident has been reported from Bagaha in Bihar, where a small boat carrying several passengers capsized in the Gandak river. The incident occurred due to a sudden surge and strong winds in the river, leading to the boat losing control and overturning. Fortunately, quick action by local divers and the motorboat driver helped save all the passengers.
The accident took place near Chandrapur Diara in Bhitha, located on the Uttar Pradesh border. The passengers, who were on their way to Gandak Diara for farming and to gather fodder, found themselves in a life-threatening situation as the boat began to sink. However, thanks to the prompt response of local divers and the administration, all individuals were rescued safely and are currently being sheltered in the Diara area, awaiting calmer weather to return to their village.
The incident has raised concerns as the water level in the Gandak river has risen significantly due to recent rains in Nepal, leading to the release of over 1.60 lakh cusecs of water. Despite the risks, local residents continue to travel across the river for their daily needs.
