College security guard held over Kolkata student's alleged gang-rape case; 4th arrest so far
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal firmly stated that he is satisfied with his work and will not resign at the request of the protesting junior doctors. He emphasized that he would only step down if directed by his higher authorities.
In response, the junior doctors, who have been protesting for over 22 hours, announced that they are ending their current protest but vowed to continue their movement.
The standoff began after the doctors demanded Goyal’s resignation over the handling of a recent incident involving the alleged rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar medical college and hospital.
