A 21-year-old housewife, Kusum Prasad, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Thursday in the Padmapukur Road area of Ward 6, Bhatpara, sparking widespread shock in the locality. Kusum, who had been married for two years, was discovered by a municipal sanitation worker after hearing her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter crying.
Locals claim that Kusum was strangled to death, pointing to visible wounds on her body and deep injury marks on her neck. Following the discovery, the police arrested her husband, Tapas Sarkar, and launched an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
The incident has caused a stir in the community, with residents demanding justice.
