Cop dies after being dragged 10 meters while stopping speeding vehicle in Delhi

In Delhi's Nangloi, Constable Sandeep, 30, lost his life in a hit-and-run accident while on duty early Sunday morning. The constable, deployed at the Nangloi Police Station, was investigating a surge in robbery cases when he attempted to stop a speeding WagonR car. While patrolling on his bike, Sandeep noticed the reckless driving and gestured for the driver to slow down. However, the vehicle accelerated, hit him from behind, and dragged him for approximately 10 meters before crashing into another parked car.

Sandeep was immediately rushed to Sonia Hospital and later transferred to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, where he succumbed to severe head injuries. DCP Jimmy Chiram reported that police teams have been formed to apprehend the two suspects who fled the scene after the incident. While the car has been recovered, the identities of the accused have been established, and a case of road rage has been registered.

The horrifying event, captured by a nearby CCTV camera, revealed Sandeep gesturing for the car to slow down moments before the collision. Reports suggest that one of them may have been involved in illegal liquor trade, although this remains unconfirmed. Sandeep leaves behind his mother, wife, and a five-year-old son.
