Cong chief Shubhankar Sarkar faces 'Go Back' slogans at Sagar Dutta hospital

The agitating junior doctors at Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital once again made it clear that their movement is strictly apolitical. On previous occasions, they had asked politicians to leave their protest site, including Tamluk BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay and Agnimitra Paul.

This time, when Bengal Congress President Shubhankar Sarkar visited the hospital amidst the ongoing strike, they raised slogans of "Go Back" and emphasized the absence of any political involvement in their protest.

The junior doctors have been on strike since Friday following an incident where a patient's family allegedly harassed healthcare workers. While the Congress delegation arrived at the hospital to express support, the doctors, standing united, reiterated that their movement is independent of political affiliations. “We made it clear that there is no place for politics here,” one of the protesting doctors said.

Shubhankar Sarkar, while acknowledging their stance, insisted that his visit was as a common person from North 24 Parganas and not a politician. He stressed his support for their cause but respected their desire to keep politics out of the movement.
