"We expect potato prices to drop starting tomorrow", say authorities
A Bagdogra tea worker, Chandan Nayek, tragically lost his life in a mysterious incident near the Punai Basti river. The 45-year-old, employed at the Bagdogra Tea Estate, had gone fishing on Monday night. His body was discovered by locals the following morning, lying near the riverbank with visible head injuries.
The Bagdogra police were informed immediately and rushed to the scene. They recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for an autopsy, which is expected to provide crucial details about the cause of death. The nature of the injuries has sparked suspicion, with police treating the case as potentially involving foul play, though no concrete evidence has been found yet.
Chandan's family and fellow tea workers are in shock, calling for a thorough investigation. The police have launched a probe, questioning locals and examining the area where the body was found for further clues. Authorities believe the autopsy report will play a key role in determining whether Chandan’s death was a tragic accident during fishing or a case of homicide.
