A 34-year-old woman from Odisha was allegedly sexually assaulted and dumped in the Sarai Kale Khan area of Delhi. The incident came to light around 3:20 AM when an Indian Navy officer noticed the woman walking along the road in bloodstained clothing and immediately alerted the police.
Upon their arrival, officers found the woman wearing a torn kurti and a piece of cloth wrapped around her lower body. She was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed she was bleeding from her genital area, suggesting the assault likely occurred elsewhere before she was abandoned.
Investigations revealed that the woman had moved to Delhi a year ago after completing a nursing course. Her family had filed a missing person report after she left their home in Odisha, and they had traveled to Delhi two months ago to persuade her to return, but she refused. After their visit, they returned to Odisha, losing contact with her shortly afterward.
The police reported that the woman had lost her phone about a month prior to the incident and had not been in touch with her family since. Struggling financially, she had been living on the streets, with CCTV footage showing her sleeping near an ATM booth for two days prior to her discovery.
Currently undergoing medical treatment, the woman is unable to provide clear details about her attackers or the circumstances surrounding her phone loss. Authorities are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace her movements and have contacted her brother, who is a doctor, for further assistance. The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify the individuals responsible for this horrific crime.
