A 45-year-old man from Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh, Govind Rai Raikwar, has been arrested for allegedly abusing his 10-year-old daughter in a shocking incident that has drawn widespread condemnation. The abuse occurred on Monday when Raikwar reportedly hung his daughter upside down with a rope, punishing her for disobedience.
The situation escalated when a video capturing the horrific act surfaced on social media, quickly going viral and prompting public outrage. Station House Officer (SHO) Raja Dinesh Singh of Bar police station confirmed that the police acted immediately after the video gained traction online, leading to Raikwar's prompt arrest.
After his arrest, Raikwar was brought before a local court, where he was remanded to jail on serious charges, including child abuse and torture. The police have indicated that the father could face additional charges as the investigation continues, emphasizing the severity of the allegations.
