Two teachers from a prominent coaching centre in Kanpur have been arrested on charges of rape and blackmail. The victims, a young woman who was a minor at the time of the incidents, was preparing for the NEET medical entrance exam. The alleged crimes took place between 2022 and 2023. The survivor enrolled in the coaching centre in 2022 and was subjected to repeated sexual assaults and blackmail by her biology teacher, Sahil Siddiqui (32).
The ordeal began when Siddiqui invited her to his apartment under the guise of a student party. Once there, he allegedly drugged, raped, and filmed her. Subsequently, Siddiqui used the video to coerce the victim into enduring further sexual abuse and blackmail. He also held her captive at his apartment and forced her to attend parties where she was assaulted by another teacher, Vikas Porwal (39). The survivor's courage to come forward was bolstered by a recent incident involving Siddiqui.
A video of him sexually harassing another student went viral, leading to his arrest and subsequent release on bail. This event empowered the victim to report the crimes she had suffered. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against both Siddiqui and Porwal on Friday, and they were arrested the same night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Pandey confirmed the arrests and stated that the victim had been subjected to multiple assaults by the accused. He also emphasized the victim's request for privacy, urging against the disclosure of sensitive details.
