3 pistols, cartridges seized, criminals arrested for planned robbery of bank and warehouse in Ghatal

A police operation in Ghatal’s Priya Alui village led to the arrest of several criminals from other states, who had been hiding in the village for an extended period. The operation, which took place on Sunday afternoon, was carried out by the district police after receiving intelligence from the Special Task Force (STF). Police surrounded the village and raided the residence of Komal Rana, a local driver, where the criminals were staying. Following a lengthy operation, the suspects were arrested, and three pistols, along with several cartridges, were seized.

The arrested individuals had reportedly planned multiple robberies, including targeting a state-owned bank and a fertilizer warehouse. District Superintendent of Police Dhritiman Saha confirmed the arrest and the recovery of the weapons. He also stated that the group was involved in organized criminal activities, and the police are continuing to investigate their network and the full scope of their operations.

Komal Rana’s home, located in the village, was identified as the hideout for the criminals. The police have not confirmed whether Rana was directly involved in the criminal activities but have stated that they are investigating his role in sheltering the suspects. As of now, no charges have been filed against Rana, but he is under investigation.

The arrested individuals are expected to be taken to the Ghatal court, where they will face charges related to criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, and planned robberies. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the criminals' activities, and additional arrests are not ruled out. The police operation has successfully prevented the planned robberies, and the district police have assured the public of continued vigilance.
