In a shocking case of robbery involving deceit and sleeping pills, an elderly woman in Salt Lake’s Purbachal Cluster Eleven was looted of ₹2.8 lakh in cash and several gold ornaments. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Bidhan Nagar South Police Station and was reported by the victim, Chhaya Sengupta.
According to the complaint filed, the woman had contacted a compounder who had cared for her late husband. She sought his help to set up internet service at her home. The compounder arrived at her residence with another young man on the pretext of discussing internet arrangements.
While conversing, the young man allegedly administered an injection to the elderly woman, rendering her unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she discovered that her house had been ransacked. The culprits had stolen ₹2.8 lakh in cash along with multiple gold ornaments.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Bidhan Nagar South Police Station initiated an investigation and is currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects.
