TMC clinches all 60 seats in Shibpur Cooperative Bank polls unopposed

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) achieved a clean sweep in the Shibpur Cooperative Bank elections in Howrah, winning all 60 seats across 22 constituencies unopposed. The elections were held without a single challenge from opposition parties, reinforcing the party's political dominance in the region.

Nominations for the election were open on November 18 and 19, with scrutiny taking place on November 21. By November 22, the TMC was officially declared the unopposed winner, as no opposition candidates had filed nominations.

State Cooperative Minister Arup Roy attributed the TMC's uncontested victory to the opposition's lack of organizational strength and leadership in the state. He stated, "The opposition in the state exists only to oppose. They have no efficiency or capability to contest elections."

Roy emphasized that the cooperative sector's success under TMC governance is one of the reasons behind the public's trust. The minister also highlighted that the elections showcase the people’s confidence in the TMC's leadership at the grassroots level.
