Ashok Roy, the assistant headmaster of Bamanhat High School in Dinhata, was arrested for embezzling 9 lakh rupees after he found a lost bag containing the cash. The incident took place when a businessman accidentally left the bag in front of a shop near Madanmohan Bari. The businessman later realized the mistake and promptly informed the police about the missing bag.
As part of their investigation, the police reviewed CCTV footage from the shop where the bag was discovered. The footage revealed that Roy, along with a local shopkeeper, was seen picking up the bag and leaving the area. Based on this evidence, the police summoned both individuals for questioning.
Upon further investigation, the police recovered the bag from Roy’s home. The bag, containing the full amount of 9 lakh rupees, was returned to its rightful owner. Following the recovery, the police filed a case against Roy and the shopkeeper under relevant sections for theft and embezzlement. Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody.
Roy has stated that he found the bag and kept it at his home with the intention of returning it to the owner. However, after the investigation and recovery of the bag, the case was registered against both individuals. The police confirmed that legal proceedings were underway, and the two individuals were scheduled to appear in court.
