A robbery attempt was foiled in Behala’s Sakkher Bazar when a thief was caught and arrested after being trapped inside the house he was attempting to rob. The incident occurred when the thief entered the residence of Tusi Das while she and her family were not at home. Tusi, upon returning to the house, noticed the gate was wide open and immediately suspected that a break-in had occurred.
Tusi contacted her husband, who was at their nearby shop, and together they returned to the house. Upon entering, they found the thief inside, attempting to steal valuables including jewelry and cash. Tusi quickly locked the gate from the outside, trapping the thief inside. The thief, realizing he was locked in, started shouting and calling for help.
Neighbors, alerted by the noise, gathered outside the house and contacted the police. Officers from the Thakurpukur Police Station responded promptly and arrived at the scene. Upon their arrival, they arrested the thief and recovered the stolen items, which included cash and jewelry. The police confirmed that the thief had not managed to escape before their arrival.
The suspect was taken into police custody and was brought to the Thakurpukur Police Station for further investigation. The stolen goods were returned to the family. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the thief or any additional details about the ongoing investigation. The police are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the attempted robbery.
