A 40-year-old Thai woman has filed a complaint accusing an app-based bike rider of sexual harassment in South Bidhannagar, leading to his arrest. The woman, who lives in Sukanta Nagar for work purposes, booked a bike ride on Sunday night from Picnic Garden to her residence in Sukanta Nagar. The fare for the ride was 72 rupees, which the woman reportedly left under the helmet when she entered her home upon arrival.
Approximately 15 minutes later, the bike rider arrived at the woman’s house to ask for the payment again. The woman was reportedly changing clothes inside her home when the rider arrived. She claimed that a dispute ensued between them, and the rider allegedly made obscene comments. Disturbed by the incident, the woman immediately contacted the police to report the harassment.
The Bidhannagar South police initiated an investigation into the complaint and traced the accused to the Narendrapur area. The bike rider was subsequently arrested. The investigation is ongoing, with police gathering evidence and statements from both the woman and the accused. Authorities are continuing their efforts to examine the full details of the incident.
