Navnish Sahay, director of Learn with Fun play school in Noida’s Sector 70, has been arrested for allegedly installing a spy camera in the teachers’ washroom. The hidden camera, concealed inside a bulb holder, was discovered on December 10 by a teacher who noticed a faint light coming from the fixture. On closer inspection, the teacher confirmed the presence of a spy camera and alerted the school’s security guard.
The teacher reported the incident to the school’s director, Navnish Sahay, and the coordinator, Parul. Both reportedly denied the allegations and did not take any action. Following this, the teacher lodged a complaint with the police. A case was registered at the Phase 3 police station, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), Shakti Mohan Awasthi, confirmed that Sahay was arrested on December 12.
During questioning, Sahay admitted to purchasing the spy camera online for ₹22,000. Police investigations revealed that the device was designed to be discreetly hidden within a bulb holder and could stream live footage directly to Sahay’s personal devices, including his computer and mobile phone. The device has been seized, and its technical capabilities are being examined further.
The teacher also informed authorities that this was not the first time such an incident occurred. She claimed to have discovered a similar spy camera in the school’s washroom previously and handed it over to the coordinator, Parul. However, she alleged that no action was taken at that time. This prior discovery is now part of the ongoing investigation.
The school’s security guard reportedly confirmed that Sahay was responsible for installing the spy camera. Authorities are currently investigating whether the guard or other staff members were aware of or involved in the installation or operation of the device.
No recorded footage has been recovered from the camera so far, but police are investigating the possibility of its misuse. They are also verifying the teacher’s claims about the earlier camera to establish a timeline of incidents. The investigation remains ongoing to determine the full extent of the activities involving the spy camera.
