US employee stabs company President during staff meeting, arrested

A workplace meeting at Anderson Express in Michigan turned violent when 32-year-old employee Nathan Mahoney allegedly stabbed the company's president with a red-handled knife. The incident occurred during a morning staff meeting on Tuesday, leaving the office community in shock.

According to the authorities, Mahoney, who had been hired earlier this month for an accounting role, walked into the conference room unannounced and attacked the president, stabbing him in the side. Following the assault, Mahoney fled the scene in his vehicle but was apprehended less than an hour later.

The injured president was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now in recovery and is expected to make a full recovery, a spokesperson for the company confirmed. "We remain in shock over the incident," said company representative Mary Ann Sabo. "Our first thought is with our president, who has a good prognosis. We’re focused on supporting our employees during this difficult time."

Local law enforcement has praised the rapid response of officers in capturing Mahoney and is currently investigating the motive behind the attack. Muskegon County trial attorney Matt Roberts clarified that the case is not a mystery. "There are multiple witnesses who saw the assault," he said.

Coworkers described Mahoney as a quiet individual, making the incident even more unexpected. Despite the lack of clarity regarding the motive, Roberts emphasized, "No matter what grievances a person may have, violence is never the answer."

Mahoney faces serious charges, including assault with intent to murder and fleeing and eluding a police officer, both of which could result in life imprisonment if convicted. He is set to appear in court for a probable cause hearing on December 26.
