Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath participated in the Ashtottarshat 108 Shrimad Bhagwat Paath and Panch Narayan Mahayagya held at Asharfi Bhawan Ashram in Ayodhya on Friday. The event was a significant spiritual occasion, aiming to foster unity and peace, with CM Yogi offering oblations amidst Vedic chants. The Mahayagya, a ritualistic worship of the five divine forms of Lord Narayan, is a part of a broader effort to enhance spiritual energy and promote well-being within society. CM Yogi’s participation underscores the state’s commitment to preserving and promoting Sanatan Dharma.
In his address, CM Yogi emphasized the importance of Sanatan Dharma as India’s foundational religion. He stated that it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to protect and uphold Sanatan Dharma, which has played a crucial role in shaping India’s cultural and religious identity. He also mentioned that Sanatan Dharma serves as a force of positivity and peace, both within the country and globally, highlighting its role in fostering harmony in society.
CM Yogi addressed the historical destruction of sacred temples and cultural sites in India, citing the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, and other religious structures that were desecrated in earlier centuries. He stated that the families of those responsible for these acts of destruction have faced significant consequences. For example, CM Yogi mentioned that the descendants of Aurangzeb are now reportedly living a modest life near Kolkata. He suggested that had these rulers refrained from desecrating religious sites, their descendants may have avoided such hardships.
The Chief Minister also spoke about the eternal nature of Sanatan Dharma, noting that it has existed since the beginning of creation and continues to provide spiritual guidance. He stressed that Sanatan Dharma has historically been inclusive, offering refuge to people from all castes, creeds, and religions, especially during times of crisis and distress. This inclusive approach, CM Yogi stated, was one of the key reasons for the religion’s enduring relevance.
In addition to discussing religious preservation, CM Yogi highlighted the ongoing development in Ayodhya under the state government’s initiatives. He praised the restoration of Ayodhya’s historical and spiritual significance, mentioning the construction of the Ram Lalla Temple as a monumental achievement. He also pointed to the comprehensive development of Ayodhya Dham, which includes infrastructure improvements and the preservation of religious heritage. The Chief Minister noted that these efforts are carried out with the guidance and support of saints and religious leaders to ensure the city’s transformation while maintaining its historical and cultural legacy.
CM Yogi concluded by urging all Indians to unite in the effort to protect Sanatan Dharma, which he described as essential for safeguarding the nation’s cultural and religious heritage. He called for vigilance against attempts to distort or undermine this ancient tradition, emphasizing the importance of learning from past mistakes that led to the destruction of sacred sites. CM Yogi also expressed gratitude for the Panch Narayan Mahayagya, acknowledging its spiritual significance and potential to contribute to societal harmony. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, Swatantra Dev Singh, JPS Rathore, and other senior political and religious figures.
