Kolkata college student arrested for drugging and raping former schoolmate

A 21-year-old student from a prominent college in Kolkata was arrested on charges of rape after allegedly drugging and assaulting a former schoolmate. The victim, an engineering student, filed a formal complaint with the Garia Police Station on December 31, citing that she had been too distressed to report the crime earlier.

According to the victim’s complaint, the accused, a student from Baguiati, and she had been schoolmates in the past. After reconnecting recently, the accused allegedly invited the victim to meet. During the meeting, the victim claims she was drugged and became unconscious, after which the accused reportedly assaulted her. The victim stated that she was unable to file the complaint sooner due to the emotional and psychological impact of the incident.

After the complaint was filed, the Garia Police acted promptly and arrested the accused the same night. The student, currently enrolled in a well-known college in Kolkata, was taken into custody for questioning. The police are continuing their investigation, gathering evidence from the scene and other sources to further substantiate the case.
