ISIS India head, Saquib Nachan dies in Delhi hospital after brain haemorrhage
Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal legislative elections, the Trinamool Congress government is set to release a comprehensive book detailing its achievements over the past 13 years, from 2011 to May 2024. The book will focus on various sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, social welfare, and rural development, providing a factual, data-driven account of the state's progress under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The publication will highlight key social welfare initiatives, including the Lakshmir Bhandar (financial assistance to women), Swasthya Sathi (health insurance), Kanyashree (financial assistance to girls for education), and Rupashree (financial aid for women’s marriage). These schemes have been significant in improving women’s financial independence, healthcare access, and education. The book will provide detailed statistics on the number of beneficiaries, the financial impact, and regional variations in the implementation of these programs across Bengal.
Infrastructure development will also be a major focus of the book. It will detail the state's investment in improving roads, bridges, and transportation systems, particularly in rural and remote areas. Information will be provided on the construction and repair of roads, expansion of public transportation networks, and the development of key infrastructure projects such as bridges, airports, and railway stations. The government’s efforts to improve rural infrastructure, including water supply, sanitation, and electricity, will be documented with specifics on project completion rates and geographic coverage.
Another major section of the book will cover the state government’s handling of schemes that are typically funded by the central government. This includes the 100-day work program, which provides employment for rural workers, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (housing scheme), both of which the state government has financially supported. The book will include data on the amount of money allocated, the number of beneficiaries, and the progress of these programs.
The book will also include detailed information on education, with a focus on the state’s initiatives to improve school infrastructure, teacher training, and scholarships for students. Programs such as the Sabooj Sathi (bicycle distribution for students) and the distribution of tablets and laptops for students will also be highlighted. The government’s investment in higher education, including the establishment of new universities and colleges, will be outlined with details on enrollment figures and new academic programs introduced.
Ministers Shovondeb Chattopadhyay and Bratya Basu have been tasked with compiling this extensive report. The book will be broken into sections based on different sectors and geographical regions, offering a granular look at the work done in each area. Statistical data, project completion reports, and beneficiary details will be included to ensure transparency and provide an exhaustive overview of the government’s efforts in the last 13 years. This book will be distributed to Trinamool Congress representatives for use in their campaigns leading up to the 2026 elections.
