Atishi accuses 'BJP goons' of attacking Kejriwal’s car, says

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating an attack on Arvind Kejriwal’s vehicle during his election campaign in the New Delhi constituency. Atishi alleged that individuals linked to BJP’s New Delhi candidate, Parvesh Verma, were responsible for the attack, which involved stone pelting at Kejriwal’s car on Saturday. Atishi warned that the stone could have been fatal if it had hit someone.

Atishi named three individuals who were allegedly involved in the attack: Rahul alias Shankey, Rohit Tyagi, and Sumit. She claimed these individuals were associated with Verma’s election campaign and were known to have criminal backgrounds. Atishi further stated that Shankey, Tyagi, and Sumit have criminal cases registered against them, including charges related to robbery, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act.

According to Atishi, Shankey has cases of attempted robbery and violations under the Arms Act, while Tyagi reportedly faces charges of theft and attempted murder. Sumit, the third individual named, is said to have cases of theft, robbery, and attempted murder registered against him. Atishi emphasized that these individuals were not ordinary BJP workers, but were linked to serious criminal activity, which she claimed showed an intention to harm Kejriwal.

The incident occurred while Kejriwal was campaigning in the New Delhi constituency on Saturday. A video, which was shared on social media, showed Kejriwal’s car surrounded by police, with a man waving a black cloth and reportedly throwing stones. Delhi police have not confirmed any stone pelting but mentioned that some individuals had attempted to display black flags, which were removed promptly. The police investigation is ongoing, and additional details may emerge as the probe continues.

In response to AAP’s allegations, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma denied the claims, stating that the incident was not an attack but a traffic accident. Verma alleged that Kejriwal’s vehicle had run over a BJP worker, causing a leg injury. Verma posted a video on social media, claiming that Kejriwal’s car had hit two BJP workers while they were asking questions. The injured BJP worker was reportedly admitted to Lady Hardinge Medical College for treatment. The police are investigating both the allegations of the attack and the accident.
