Mohammad Rehan, a 12-year-old boy from KBM Road, went missing on January 16, 2025. He had been playing with three friends in the afternoon when he failed to return home. His family, along with local residents, initiated a search, and a missing persons report was filed with the Bhadrashwar police. Over the next four days, authorities and the community worked together to locate him, but it was only on January 19 that the search ended with the discovery of his body.
Rehan's body was found in the septic tank of a jute mill, located in the area. The discovery was made after local residents reported the presence of a body in the tank. Bhadrashwar police, along with local officials, recovered the body and transported it to the police station. Rehan’s father, Mohammad Mukhtar, was present at the station and identified the body. The police have since initiated an investigation and ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Friends who were with Rehan on the day he went missing later told authorities that he had fallen after suffering an electric shock, though this claim has not yet been confirmed by the police. Authorities are continuing to gather information from those involved, including the three friends, to establish a clear timeline of events. Chandannagar Police Commissioner Amit P. Javalgi has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with all relevant individuals being questioned. The police are focusing on determining whether Rehan's death was an accident or the result of other circumstances.
