Two men, Shantu Ruidas and Ganesh Ruidas, both sons-in-law of Lakhan Ruidas, died following a family function in Urasai village, West Midnapore. The incident occurred on the morning of January 22, when both men experienced sudden health complications after consuming alcohol together the previous evening. They had attended the ceremony at Lakhan Ruidas's house and were scheduled to return home the next day.
The two men were quickly taken to Chandrakona Rural Hospital in critical condition. Doctors at the hospital declared Shantu Ruidas dead upon arrival. Ganesh Ruidas, despite receiving immediate treatment, passed away shortly afterward. Police confirmed that both men had been drinking alcohol at the event, and alcohol poisoning is suspected as a possible cause of death.
The bodies were recovered by the Chandrakona police and sent for post-mortem examination at Ghatal Hospital. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The post-mortem results will provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
