A tragic road accident on Kisan Path near the Indira Canal in Lucknow resulted in four fatalities and left seven others injured. The incident occurred in the BBD police station area when a truck collided with an SUV from behind, causing a chain reaction. A van following the SUV also crashed into the truck, leading to a severe pile-up involving three vehicles. The impact of the crash caused significant damage to both the SUV and the van, trapping passengers inside.
The victims who lost their lives in the crash were identified as Shehzad (40), Kiran Yadav (38), Kundan (20), and Himanshu (17). Shehzad, a key member of the Tasleem-Arif qawwali troupe, was a passenger in the SUV. Kiran, Kundan, and Himanshu were traveling in the van. Seven individuals, including both passengers from the SUV and the van, sustained injuries and were transported to the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) for treatment. The condition of the injured has been reported as stable, though some remain under critical care.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Early reports suggest the truck driver may have lost control, possibly due to being under the influence of alcohol. The police have launched a probe to determine the exact cause, including whether road conditions, speed limits, or mechanical failure played a role in the collision.
The emergency services acted swiftly, with local residents assisting in extricating the victims from the mangled wreckage. Police and fire department personnel arrived on the scene, working together to rescue the trapped passengers and transport the injured to the hospital. Authorities have secured the crash site and are collecting evidence to aid the investigation.
In response to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and instructed district administration officials to ensure that the injured receive immediate and adequate medical care. The state government has assured that necessary steps will be taken to improve road safety measures and prevent similar accidents in the future.
