The Automobile Association of Eastern India (AAEI) hosted its annual Vintage Car Rally in Kolkata today, featuring nearly 100 classic vehicles from Germany, Italy, Britain, and America. The event showcased a diverse array of vintage cars, some dating back over a century. Notable vehicles included the 1913 Stoewer, a rare German model, and the 1928 Magnificent. Other cars on display spanned iconic luxury brands such as Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Mercury-8, Austin A70, Phantom, Adler, Ford, and Essex Super-6.
The rally brought together a wide variety of vehicles from different periods, with over 50 additional cars joining the procession. These automobiles ranged from pre-World War I classics to mid-20th-century designs, offering a rare opportunity to view the evolution of automotive engineering. Many of the vehicles had been meticulously restored, preserving the original craftsmanship of their respective eras.
The event coincided with Saraswati Puja, adding a cultural touch to the proceedings. Children, dressed in traditional Basanti yellow attire, were seen riding in the vintage cars, reflecting the festive spirit of the occasion. AAEI also shared that future rallies would include a focus on Indian classic vehicles, showcasing the rich heritage of Indian automotive history alongside international classics.
